Tasty Dumpling – Sacramento, CA
I think it’s pretty obvious that I love dumplings! However, I tend to be picky because I grew up going to Hong Kong during my Christmas and summer breaks. So when I saw that Tasty Dumpling was coming to Sacramento, I was both excited and a bit skeptical. I am happy to say that Tasty Dumpling exceeded my expectations.
The inside is small but very clean. The staff is friendly and got us our food very quickly. However, the seating was limited so we decided to take our food to go.
Vegetable Steamed Dumplings
The first item we tried was the vegetable dumplings. The dumplings are filled with tons of veggies (celery, carrots, cabbage, and mushrooms to name a few). They were cooked well and clearly coated in spices. The bite was soft and full of flavor. We enjoyed these!
Pork Xiao Long Bao
Next on the list was the pork xiao long bao. These were dumplings filled with a flavorful soup, ground pork and spices. These were a bit cold when we finally sat down to eat them, but that really did not matter. These were delicious and fed all four of us. The meat was easy to eat and very tasty.
Sliced Potato Salad with House Dressing
This item was a side dish, but unlike many places, it fed all of us with leftovers. The potatoes were cooked to perfection and the individual slices were a great way to serve the potatoes. The sauce was hot but not spicy. The cilantro was a bit overpowering for my taste, but it did mix well with the dish.
Beef Potstickers
Our final dish was the beef potstickers. These were my favorites because the beef was extremely flavorful and delicious. The sesame seeds on top gave it a great savory flavor. These potstickers absolutely reminded me of the potstickers my Popo used to make. Must try!
Overall
Tasty Dumpling is pretty close to authentic! The dumplings were delicious, the portions were large, and the prices were reasonable. Even my Hong Kong born parents liked them. If you’re looking for a great bite to eat, Tasty Dumpling is a great place to try! Definitely go for the beef potstickers and the pork xiao long bao!
